Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Eph 5:16 MKJV)
How many times have you wished you had just enough time to finish a very important
task, or just a few seconds to make one final point in a debate, or just one more drive in a football or basket ball game?
Oh, just a few more minutes to finish that point in a final examination! You just knew that final moment could have MADE the
difference!
How do you wish to spend the rest your time here on earth? Do you want to constantly
chase time or do you WANT TO MAKE time to work for you?
One more question: What legacy do you want to leave on earth?
Politicians, Kings, important people, entertainment and sports figures want
to leave legacies to be remembered by. The good news child of God is that every Christian’s good works or services
to humanity and God’s Kingdom leave legacies here on earth and in the world to come.
However, the more you start thinking about time; you will come to the conclusion that though time is our most valuable
God given capital, it can easily be squandered.
Scriptures speaks of “redeeming the time,” why? “Because
the days are evil. Time does not wait for nobody.
Job makes these points in many passages in scripture. However, for the sake
of time and space we shall highlight a few to make the point: In Job 9: 25, he writes, “now my days are swifter than a runner;
they flee away, they see no good.”
(Job 7:7 MKJV) Remember
that my life is a breath; my eye shall no more see good. (Job 16:22 MKJV)
For the years that
are few will come,
and I shall go the way from where I shall not return.
You got his point; now let us review some raw datas on how most of us will
spend our lifetime on planet earth. Assuming we all lived to a full healthy and fruitful one hundred years mark plus.
Won’t that be grand?
Here is how most of us may spend our lifetime on earth:
1. Sleeping.
We all need proper rest. Assuming you slept 8 hours everyday for 100 years… You
will spend 33 years and 33 days of your life sleeping! Wow!
2. Education and Training: We all need a proper education. Assuming you received a 20 years education form elementary to your post-graduate
for 7 hours daily, 35 hours weekly…You will spend 4 years and 15 days
receiving instruction.
3. Working.
We all need to work. Assuming you started working from the age of 20 years (some younger) and retired at 65 years for approximately
8 hours (some more hours) daily for a 40 hours work week…You will spend 10
year and 68 days of your life working.
4. Quality time with family:(Very Important). This is a great purpose for the creation of mankind. (READ GENESIS 1:26-29) Assuming you started your family at 25 years young and spent on the average of 3 solid hours (more or less
depending on what part of the world you live) everyday for 75 years…You will
spend 9 years and 37 day with your spouse, children and grand children!
5. Quality time for God and Good Works. (VERY IMPORTANT) All of the above are very important. However, what we do IN CHRIST FOR CHRIST
enters into your heavenly account and books (read Malachi 3:16). Assuming your relationship with Jesus Christ began at 18 years
young and you devoted 2 hours to your daily devotion to God and good service to humanity, including time at church and fellowship
with the family of God. After 82 years of 14 hours of weekly service…You
will spend 6 years and 81 days of quality time with God on earth!
In other words you will be 6 years
and 81 days old in the spirit! If a hundred years of a well spent life only produce 9.37 years of quality time with family and 6.81 years of quality time with God
and good service to humanity in your account in heaven. What do we need to do to make a greater impact both now and in the world to come?
Again I ask: What legacy do you wish to leave both now and in the world to
come? Have you found out your divine purpose? By that I mean that special God given assignment you alone can accomplish. Would
you devote at least 10 hours every month to accomplish that purpose? Good.
DID YOU KNOW THAT WITH A COMPLIMENTARY TEAM OF OTHERS JUST LIKE YOU, YOU COULD
DO 111.47 YEARS OF GOOD WORKS FOR GOD’S KINGDOM AND HUMANITY BY DEVOTING JUST 10 HOURS EVERY MONTH?
King Solomon, the wiser man that ever lived on earth suggests: “Whatever
your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no work, nor plan, nor knowledge, nor wisdom,
in the grave where you go.” (Ecc 9:10 MKJV)
